Even prior to your first session, we will have a phone call which will take a general interview to discuss areas of pain or discomfort, have you been treated by another healthcare professional, have you received a diagnosis from that professional, MRI or X-Rays and the results of those or any other tests you may have had, regarding your pain, whether acute, chronic or reoccurring. Please download the Massage Intake Form and the Pain Referral Chart and have them filled out so that every minute can better be focused on working together to reduce your pain or increase your level of performance.
Bring loose fitting clothes, like running shorts and sports top, to ensure that required contact areas may be most effectively held and that areas for Active Release Techniques can be easily reached. Please do not use any oils or lotions prior to your session to ensure a good contact.
We will do an assessment to gain a clearer focus on your pain or limitation, and then we will do applicable therapeutic techniques of Active Release Techniques, Neuromuscular Therapy and Active Isolated Stretching. You may feel a slight discomfort while working on various Trigger Points that may be the key to your pain cycle and Adhesions, which can also be the root cause of your pain patterns. The good news is that once these Trigger Points have been released once, they will never be as tender as they first were and the residual tenderness will be non-existent.
Your session will normally last an hour but the first session may take longer due to the possible extensive nature of the assessment and the number of Trigger Points and release of Adhesions which may need to be addressed. The good news is that there will be less TriggerPoints which need to be focused on during subseqent sessions
